All participants underwent a variety of cognitive tests during a preliminary screening process, immediately before their group treatment, immediately after their treatment, one hour after treatment, and finally one week following the test. A group of 32 people hit a punching bag to raise their heat rates and simulate a police apprehension situation, a group of 35 people were shocked by a Taser for five seconds, a group of 38 people were Tased after going to town on the punching bag, and the remaining 37 participants served as a control group.
